Stepping into Power & Leadership on the Ascension Journey

We’re in the thick of summer, and just about to head into Leo season next week, so the above topic of power and leadership may be quite timely. It is at least something that has been a focus for me on my journey of late, and I’ve made some reflections and realizations around that topic that I would like to share. Leo themes are all about the inner child, creativity, visibility and leadership (since it’s ruled by the sun it’s about shining your light into the world, showing your soul’s full expression) and that is something I have been working on for a while now. Being true to myself, overcoming visibility issues and being a leader in my own life and in the world at large.

My own natal (retrograde) Saturn is in Leo, so it’s perhaps no surprise that I’ve had some issues there. Now with Jupiter just having stepped into Leo for the next year and the lunar nodes about to shift into the Leo/Aquarius axis, I assume there will be an even bigger focus on this topic in the next year to 18 months, so I suppose I have to brace myself for that… 😅. Anyway, since Leo is the south node, it means that karmic issues of the past and releasing the shadow side of Leo are the focus, and also stepping out of our comfort zones as it relates to Leo themes. With the Leo/Aquarius axis, this is among other things about shining our light, expressing our soul authentically within a social context, being authentic within the community, whether that is in a small way with family and friends, or in a bigger way, with a larger community or the world at large.

As I have written about in my past several blog posts, my issues around visibility and leadership have been challenged through my stepping into a leadership position at work, which is something I consciously chose and felt ready for, as I knew it was something I needed to work on. Yet of late, I have come to understand that leadership for me goes beyond just being a manager in the workplace. As time has passed and I’ve gotten more experience, as well as faced some obstacles within this role, I’ve come to realize that all of that, the leadership position, as well as challenges in my life in general, where I’ve been asked to set boundaries and staying true to myself, is really about being authentic and true to me, aka my soul. Being a leader is truly, deep down, about being yourself in the deepest sense of the word, expressing yourself at soul level. And that is something else entirely…

We’re always guided on this journey, right from the start, by our own soul, although at times we may lose our faith in that a little, especially when the journey is at its most challenging. Early on in this journey I was shown that I had a life back in ancient Egypt where I was a priestess with a lot of power and knowledge. I used this power for good, being in a temple where people could come and seek healing and guidance to help them in life. I was robbed of my power in that life, when our temple was attacked by dark priests who wanted to take our power away, and have it for themselves. I saw that I was made into a sex slave, and slowly being abuse and used up until there was nothing left of who I had been, and my power was gone.

I understood back then, when I saw this past life, that this process of ascension that I’m now in is supposed to bring me back to that power, so that I can be a fully integrated woman once again. For the longest time I felt somewhat afraid of that, though, that power, leadership and responsibility was something I was afraid to take on, that I didn’t really have enough faith in myself that I could do it. But within the recent months, or weeks even, this fear has become less and less, or that regardless of the fear, it is something I am ready to let back in. I am releasing blocks within myself to that, releasing some of the fear I have around it, but also perhaps gaining more of an understanding of what power and leadership even means. Or what it means to me.

In the beginning when I started in the leadership position at work, it was a bit of an ego boost, to feel that someone saw something within me, a potential that I haven’t necessarily always been able to see myself, or haven’t always been able to express in other jobs. It was a very worldly feeling, and it felt good to my ego to be recognized, especially since I have often felt that I have more to contribute in the world, yet not really been given the chance to. So I wanted to do some good with it, and at the same time work through some of my visibility issues. But in time, I’ve found that it’s not really that important to me to be a manager in my work place per se, the ego boost and the feeling of importance in being a manager isn’t really what it’s about in the end. What it is teaching me is, step by step, is to become used to and comfortable with being myself and showing my true self to the world.

In recent weeks, or even days, I have felt a new energy coming up in me, one of light, love and peace. Whenever I bring my attention back to me, to my heart, it is there, and becoming stronger day by day. I have realized that this is my soul starting to shine through, and when I’m connected there I feel a peace and calm that my mind and ego is incapable on giving me. And when I am in that energy, power and leadership isn’t even really that important. It can be a tool to do something good in the world, and because of that it has importance, but leadership and power that comes from the soul is quiet and peaceful. It doesn’t have a need to show off, or being proud or boastful (which incidentally can be a shadow side of Leo).

So as the soul is allowed more space within me, a new kind of power is coming forth. And that is the kind of power and leadership I want to express. One that is rooted in the soul. In love, light and peace, which doesn’t even feel like power at all, at least not the way we are often taught. But that is perhaps the true power. The power of the divine…

The soul doesn’t have a need to prove anything, to be a leader or have power. That is something the ego wants, often because it doesn’t feel very powerful. It often feels small, a victim, unimportant. But soul isn’t any of that. Soul just is. And once the soul is allowed to step into focus within you, the needs of the ego will fall away more and more. You realize you don’t need anything, you already have all you need within you. And all you need is peace, love and light. And then the work becomes to stay within that energy as much as possible, to make decisions from that place. From the place of true power. 💜

And with that wish you a beautiful rest of July, and Leo season. May you find the true power of the soul within you!

Sending you much love & light,
